Love, Salvation & Grace

Some people believe that to love another person is in and of itself enough to gain one salvation. The problem, of course, is the fact of sin and the way it affects the being of the one doing the loving. How can a Christian, who maintains that Christ alone brings salvation, also believe that love is enough to save a person? Well if you conceive of love as only having the power to save BECAUSE of what Christ did on the Cross, you can be extremely Christocentric and still believe in the saving power of love. Christ frees love from the bonds of sin, and thus love can save. This isn't how I believe, exactly, but I see no reason why one can have a kind of agape-centric view of salvation and still be a committed Christian.
