Religion & Morality

A person can stack up evidence a mountain high that religion is the source of great evil in the world. There are a great many people who do terrible, horrendous evils in the name of God, and attribute their religion as the cause of their actions. But another person can stack up evidence a mountain high that religion is the source of great good in the world. There are many people who do good deeds that are ridiculous in their goodness in the name of God, and they attribute religion as the cause of their actions. When all the evidence is stacked, doesn't this seem like the truest position: that religion pushes people to great evil, and great good, depending on the type of religion, and the type of person. It seems so to me, anyways.
