Off-Topic: Comic Book Reviews For 11-12-2014

Boom Comics' BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA #6
Jack and his friends are on the run from a zombified Lo Pan and his terrible allies. I've skipped a few issues of this comic because frankly it just wasn't up to snuff. This issue was not enough to make we want to start collecting again, but it was pretty good as a stand alone. Everything is still too cartoonish for my tastes, but it had some funny dialogue.
Storyline: 3
Dialogue: 3.5
Pacing: 3.5
Art: 3
Overall: 3

Marvel's SPIDER-VERSE #1
The main storyline of the Spider-Verse crossover was not advanced much in this comic, but there were some interesting moments as we moved rapidly between various spider-beings on various worlds. That was the weakest part of this comic...it moved too rapidly, and that messed up the pacing. A little more time spent with a few of the characters would've been preferable. It had its moments, but it came off as kind of a mess.
Storyline: 3.5 Stars
Dialogue: 3.5 Stars
Pacing: 2 Stars
Art: 3.5 Stars
Overall: 3 Stars

DC's GREEN LANTERN CORPS# 36
John Stewart takes charge of the lanterns' resistance to the New Gods as the Star Sapphires are attacked. The lanterns finally get their hands on some weapons that can actually hurt the New Gods and that makes for some better fight scenes than what have come before. This book included a lot of backstory from other GREEN LANTERN CORPS issues that made it a little harder to follow. I thought the art was weak too. However, in the overall, it was a good issue. It has a surprising ending I rather liked.

Dialogue: 3.5 Stars
Pacing: 3.5 Stars
Art: 3 Stars
Overall: 3.5 Stars
