A Simple Universalist Argument

I think the strongest argument from universalism is not from the mercy of God but from the nature of selfhood.

If anything is saved, surely it is my very self. If who I am is not the locus of salvation, it cannot be salvation in any relevant sense.

But religion, all religion and this includes Christianity, teaches that the search for self can only really find preservation in the whole of humanity. I search for myself, I find myself only to the degree that I find service to the whole of reality. Who I am is inclusive of all of reality.

So if it is myself that is saved, then it must be all selves that are saved. For we share in the same reality of selfhood.

If any are saved, all must be saved.
