Luke 10:25-37
25 Just then a lawyer stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,”
he said, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What do you read
there?”27 He answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your
heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your
mind; and your neighbor as yourself.” 28 And he said to him, “You have given the right answer; do this, and
you will live.”29 But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 Jesus replied, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell into the hands of robbers, who stripped him, beat him, and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan while traveling came near him; and when he saw him, he was moved with pity. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, having poured oil and wine on them. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.35 The next day he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said, ‘Take care of him; and when I come back, I will repay you whatever more you spend.’ 36 Which of these three, do you think, was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?” 37 He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”

John 17:6-19
6 “I have made your name known to those whom you gave me from the
world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. 7 Now they know that everything you have given me is from you; 8 for the words that you gave to me I have given to them, and they
have received them and know in truth that I came from you; and they have
believed that you sent me. 9 I am
asking on their behalf; I am not asking on behalf of the world, but on behalf
of those whom you gave me, because they are yours. 10 All mine are yours, and yours are mine; and I have been glorified
in them. 11 And now I
am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you.
Holy Father, protect them in your name that you have given me, so that they may
be one, as we are one. 12 While I
was with them, I protected them in your name that you have
given me. I guarded them, and not one of them was lost except the one destined
to be lost, so that the scripture might be fulfilled. 13 But now I am coming to you, and I speak these things in the world
so that they may have my joy made complete in themselves.14 I have
given them your word, and the world has hated them because they do not belong
to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. 15 I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I ask you
to protect them from the evil one.16 They do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the
world. 17 Sanctify
them in the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you have sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the
world. 19 And for
their sakes I sanctify myself, so that they also may be sanctified in truth.

Hebrews 11:1-7
Now faith is the assurance of
things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. 2 Indeed, by faith our ancestors received approval. 3 By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word
of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible.
4 By faith Abel offered to God a more
acceptable sacrifice than Cain’s. Through this he received
approval as righteous, God himself giving approval to his gifts; he died, but
through his faith he still speaks. 5 By faith Enoch was taken so that he did not experience death; and
“he was not found, because God had taken him.” For it was attested before he
was taken away that “he had pleased God.” 6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, for whoever
would approach him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who
seek him. 7 By faith
Noah, warned by God about events as yet unseen, respected the warning and built
an ark to save his household; by this he condemned the world and became an heir
to the righteousness that is in accordance with faith

Ecclesiastes 2:18-26
18 I hated all my toil in which I had toiled under the sun, seeing
that I must leave it to those who come after me 19 —and who knows whether they will be wise or foolish? Yet they will
be master of all for which I toiled and used my wisdom under the sun. This also
is vanity. 20 So I
turned and gave my heart up to despair concerning all the toil of my labors
under the sun, 21 because
sometimes one who has toiled with wisdom and knowledge and skill must leave all
to be enjoyed by another who did not toil for it. This also is vanity and a
great evil. 22 What do
mortals get from all the toil and strain with which they toil under the sun? 23 For all their days are full of pain, and their work is a vexation;
even at night their minds do not rest. This also is vanity.24 There is nothing better for mortals than to eat and drink, and find enjoyment in their toil. This also, I saw, is from the hand of God; 25 for apart from him who can eat or who can have enjoyment? 26 For to the one who pleases him God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy; but to the sinner he gives the work of gathering and heaping, only to give to one who pleases God. This also is vanity and a chasing after wind.

against me, how often should I forgive? As many as seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “Not seven times, but, I tell you,

Luke 19:11-27
11 As they were listening to this, he went on to tell a parable,
because he was near Jerusalem, and because they
supposed that the kingdom
of God was to appear
immediately. 12 So he
said, “A nobleman went to a distant country to get royal power for himself and
then return. 13 He
summoned ten of his slaves, and gave them ten pounds,[a] and said
to them, ‘Do business with these until I come back.’ 14 But the citizens of his country hated him and sent a delegation
after him, saying, ‘We do not want this man to rule over us.’ 15 When he returned, having received royal power, he ordered these
slaves, to whom he had given the money, to be summoned so that he might find
out what they had gained by trading.16 The first came forward and said, ‘Lord, your pound has made ten more pounds.’ 17 He said to him, ‘Well done, good slave! Because you have been
trustworthy in a very small thing, take charge of ten cities.’ 18 Then the second came, saying, ‘Lord, your pound has made five
pounds.’ 19 He said to
him, ‘And you, rule over five cities.’ 20 Then the other came, saying, ‘Lord, here is your pound. I wrapped
it up in a piece of cloth, 21 for I was
afraid of you, because you are a harsh man; you take what you did not deposit,
and reap what you did not sow.’ 22 He said to
him, ‘I will judge you by your own words, you wicked slave! You knew, did you,
that I was a harsh man, taking what I did not deposit and reaping what I did
not sow?23 Why then did you not put my money into the bank? Then when I
returned, I could have collected it with interest.’ 24 He said to the bystanders, ‘Take the pound from him and give it to
the one who has ten pounds.’ 25 (And they
said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten pounds!’) 26 ‘I tell you, to all those who have, more
will be given; but from those who have nothing, even what they have will be
taken away. 27 But as for
these enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them—bring them here
and slaughter them in my presence.’”

Matthew 7:6

1 Kings 19:11-18
He said, “Go out and stand on the
mountain before theLord, for the Lord is about
to pass by.” Now there was a great wind, so strong that it was splitting
mountains and breaking rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in
the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in
the earthquake; 12 and after
the earthquake a fire, but theLord was not in the fire; and after the fire a sound of sheer silence. 13 When Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle and went
out and stood at the entrance of the cave. Then there came a voice to him that
said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” 14 He answered, “I have been very zealous for the Lord, the God of hosts; for the Israelites have forsaken your
covenant, thrown down your altars, and killed your prophets with the sword. I
alone am left, and they are seeking my life, to take it away.” 15 Then the Lord said to
him, “Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus; when you arrive,
you shall anoint Hazael as king over Aram.16 Also you
shall anoint Jehu son of Nimshi as king over Israel; and you shall anoint
Elisha son of Shaphat of Abel-meholah as prophet in your place. 17 Whoever escapes from the sword of Hazael, Jehu shall kill; and
whoever escapes from the sword of Jehu, Elisha shall kill. 18 Yet I will leave seven thousand in Israel, all the knees that have not
bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him.”

John 21:15-19
When they had finished breakfast,
Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you
know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my lambs.” 16 A second time he said to him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”
He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Tend
my sheep.” 17 He said to
him the third time, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter felt hurt
because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” And he said to him,
“Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed
my sheep. 18 Very
truly, I tell you, when you were younger, you used to fasten your own belt and
to go wherever you wished. But when you grow old, you will stretch out your
hands, and someone else will fasten a belt around you and take you where you do
not wish to go.” 19 (He said
this to indicate the kind of death by which he would glorify God.) After this
he said to him, “Follow me.”

John 12:20-26
Now among those who went up to
worship at the festival were some Greeks. 21 They came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida
in Galilee, and said to him, “Sir, we wish to
see Jesus.” 22 Philip
went and told Andrew; then Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus. 23 Jesus answered them, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be
glorified. 24 Very
truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it
remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. 25 Those who love their life lose it, and those who hate their life
in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there will my
servant be also. Whoever serves me, the Father will honor.
