There is one way an atheist can make sense of meaning in life, of significance. That is to embrace immortalism. Mortalism and atheism usually go hand-in-hand, but they need not. One can believe in an immortal soul but not God. I believe McTaggart is an example of this. But the immortalist-not-theist is not on much better epistemic grounds than the theist is. You must believe beyond the evidence to be an immortalist.
