The television show DOCTOR WHO is an amazing phenomenon. It is a film that explores, in my mind, Andre Bazin's assertion that film making is more than story telling. It is about the creation of reality. In that sense the acting is as important as the story. The cool thing about this show is that every few years it re-invents itself by having a new actor completely reinterpret the character while keeping the memories of the character the same. It is like the actor himself gets to explore the character from the ground up. Then there is this reality of the actor being the character but not. Everything is layered. There is something profound here, something important. The character is the actor is not the character is the focus of the story. Something to ponder.
