DUNE & Failed Messiahs
I wrote yesterday about how there were other messianic figures that pre-date Jesus. I was reminded of a theme running throughout the book DUNE. It is the idea that Paul Atreides both WAS the messiah and yet had to choose to become what he was. Indeed there were failed messiahs that came before Paul, one was hired to kill him. I have always felt that DUNE is a good way to understand imaginatively what it meant for Jesus to be messiah.
